Rejected by My Mate, I Became the Sole Heiress
説明
For eight years, Evelyn sacrificed everything for her Alpha mate, Adrian, even raising his nephew as her own. Her reward? Being publicly discarded in the snow for a wealthier woman. "You were just convenient," he sneered, while the boy she loved called her pathetic.
Fired, humiliated, and with nothing left, a secret from her late mother shatters her world. She is no nobody; she is Evelyn Ravenshade, the sole heiress to an ancient, formidable, and obscenely wealthy family.
With her dormant powers awakened and a dynasty at her back, she returns to the world that scorned her. This time, she's not a servant, but a queen ready to collect her debts.
"It was you who saved me?" her ex-mate cries, kneeling in desperation. She gives him a cold smile. "You mistook your savior, and the price for that mistake is everything you have."

The diner’s neon sign buzzed and flickered, casting a sickly green glow on Evelyn’s apron as she untied it for the last time that night. Her fingers were raw from scrubbing dishes, and the smell of old grease clung to her uniform like a second skin. She checked her phone—11:47 PM. The late shift was finally over.
Then the screen lit up.
Adrian: Come to the corner of 5th and Maple. Now.
No “please.” No “how was work?” Just a command. Her heart, stupid and hopeful, still skipped. Maybe he wanted to talk about fixing the bond. Maybe Selena was just a temporary mistake. Maybe—
She grabbed her coat and stepped into the snow.
The wind hit her like a slap. January in this part of the city was brutal, and the slush had already soaked through her worn-out sneakers. But she walked anyway, because that was what she always did. Walk toward Adrian. Fix things. Sacrifice.
You’ve been doing that for eight years, a bitter voice whispered in her head. And what has it gotten you?
She shoved the thought away. Tonight she’d be patient. Tonight she’d remind him of the night they met—when she’d pulled him from the frozen river, how he’d held her hand and whispered, “I’ll never forget you.”
The corner came into view. Adrian’s black sports car was parked at the curb, engine purring, exhaust curling into the cold air. But Evelyn stopped when she saw the passenger seat.
Selena.
The other woman was lounging against the leather seat, her blonde curls spilling over a designer coat. She was laughing at something, and her manicured hand rested casually on Adrian’s arm. In the back seat, Noah—the boy Evelyn had raised since he was six—stared at her through the window. His lip curled.
Evelyn’s throat tightened. He used to call me Mom.
She walked closer, forcing a smile. “Adrian? You said you wanted to talk—”
Selena cut her off with a high-pitched giggle. “Oh my god, look at her. Did she come straight from the dumpster?”
Adrian didn’t defend her. He didn’t even look at her face. His eyes stayed fixed on the steering wheel. “Evelyn, we’re done. The bond is broken. I’m with Selena now.”
The words didn’t hurt as much as the way he said them. Flat. Bored. Like she was an old receipt he was finally throwing away.
“But I thought… the ceremony next week…” Evelyn stammered. “We can still repair the contract. The Moon Chapel—”
“There’s nothing to repair.” Adrian finally turned his head. His eyes were cold—wolf-gray, the same color they’d been the night he’d whispered promises into her ear. “I don’t love you, Evelyn. I never did. You were just… convenient.”
Convenient. She’d raised his orphaned nephew. She’d worked two jobs so he could climb the Pack ranks. She’d bandaged his wounds, paid his debts, and never once asked for thanks.
And now she was convenient.
Noah snorted from the back. “Told you she’d come running. Like a lost puppy.” He was seventeen now, tall and sharp-featured, but his eyes held no warmth. “You’re pathetic. You know that? You’re not my mother. You never were. Selena is the one who actually belongs in this family.”
Evelyn felt something crack inside her chest. Not her heart—that had been broken too many times. Something deeper. Something that had been holding her together for eight years.
Why? she wanted to scream. Why are you doing this? I fed you. I clothed you. I stayed up with you when you had nightmares.
But she didn’t scream. She just stood there, snow melting into her hair, and asked quietly, “Noah… how can you say that?”
Selena laughed again. “Because it’s true, sweetie. You’re nothing. You’ve always been nothing. A servant who got too comfortable.”
Adrian started the engine. “Go home, Evelyn. Tomorrow at noon, Moon Chapel. We end this.”
He rolled up the window.
And then—the car lurched forward. Not fast, but deliberately. The front tire hit a deep puddle of gray slush and icy water, and the wave shot up like a dirty geyser.
It soaked her. From scalp to shins. The freezing water seeped through her coat, her shirt, her bra, turning her skin to ice. She heard Selena’s cackle as the car sped away.
Evelyn stood alone at the corner, dripping, shivering, unable to move.
Tomorrow at noon, she repeated in her head. Moon Chapel.
She looked down at her trembling hands. The hands that had pulled a drowning wolf from a frozen river eight years ago. The hands that had held a sick child’s forehead. The hands that had scrubbed floors and washed dishes and never, ever been enough.
“Why?” she whispered to the empty street.
No one answered. Only the snow, falling harder now, burying the last traces of the tire tracks.
