This is the epic tale of Twins, Lies & Love.
Capítulo1
Character Introduction; NATHAN WALKER
I have always wanted just one thing in my life, my mother's love, and attention, which always falls upon my twin brother, Ethan Walker. To be honest, it's not just my mother. Even in school and work. Not that I have many friends though.
Even the one girl I ever loved. Well, it wasn't like I ever said that. Instead, I was just an asshole to her.
Not that it matters anymore.
I studied hard, topped my schools and university, worked day and night for our company, THE WALKER CORPS, just so I can get whatever's left of my mother's heart.
All this money and title means nothing when my mother won't give a shit about me, right?
I don't give a fuck about attention from others. Let's just conclude that I'm used to all this shit and I passed the stage of hating myself and trying to pretend everything's alright. Trying to be the best in everything.
I grew up this way and now I'm used to being alone. Maybe I just prefer it that way.
But a mother's love is a different thing, right?
I wouldn't say it's her fault either, you know, that Ethan always gains more attention. He's just a good guy. The type who can easily befriend anyone and is fun to be with. Easygoing, cheerful.
Which is the exact opposite of me.
I hate talking to people. Especially the fake ones. Because most of the people I meet and work with are exactly that type.
It just makes me so uncomfortable. I usually keep to myself and just talk to the people I'm used to, which are my family and my one friend.
When dad decided to hand over the company to me, I was so shocked and even mad at him cause mother didn't seem to like it.
I mean I usually come out to be rude and cold, no wonder she wanted him. And I thought maybe someone like him can do a better job.
I chuckle with no humor, who am I kidding? He's a loser. I love my brother but he hates this job and the whole concept of responsibility.
But for the first time, my mother asked me a favor and I just cannot deny it. Maybe this is my last chance. To try and fix my relationship with her.
Then why is there this weird ache in my chest? Why is my heart racing so fast, making my stomach churn? Why am I marrying the woman, my brother was supposed to marry?
A Few Months Ago
"Nathan, you don't have to stay day and night at the company, you know. Come here, son. This is the time to celebrate." My dad, Edward Walker, called me out sitting on the long white couch, along with my brother and mother, in the middle of the huge mansion hall.
It was almost nine, the usual time I come home. I set my briefcase down and walked over to join my family in their discussion.
"Your brother is getting married!" Mother exclaimed, happiness sparkling her eyes. I've never seen her happier.
And really? Ethan's getting married? Since when did he decide to settle down?
I thought he was pretty happy partying and sleeping around.
At least that's what he said.
"Um...that's amazing, mother," I replied, forcing some enthusiasm.
"I know! I'm so happy, my boy is growing up!"
I looked at Ethan, who had a blank face. I scoffed internally.
So guessing by that face, he didn't agree to all this. Thought so.
"You don't wanna know who the lucky bride is?" She was vibrating in excitement and shuffled through the files and photos.
Yeah right. Lucky.
Well, it's none of my business though. I don't care who Ethan marries. I just hope he stops sleeping around with random girls. Cheating isn't something I'm comfortable with and I'll whoop his ass if he does anything like that.
"Ross' girl, Samantha." With that, I froze.
What. The. Fuck.
"Remember you guys used to play together when you were just kids? And didn't you guys study in the same school or something? Time flies so fast, doesn't it, honey?"
Fucking hell. Are you kidding me?
Her?
Of course. How can I forget that girl?
Grew up together, went to school together, and all the other shit. Fuck.
After high school, I never imagined seeing her again. Ever after.
And she's getting married? To him?
I cannot go through this shit again for fuck's sake.
Clenching my fists, I try to calm my racing heart.
Now that I think about it, she did always like him better than me. Always talking about him, running around him, fucking comparing me with him.
Match made in fucking heaven.
"No no no! This cannot be happening!" Ethan yelled, smashing the large flower vase against the wall.
That was an antique, by the way.
We were seated on our terrace, where we had a beautiful garden and a long couch with a small table. It's almost like a mini garden. My garden.
Flowering was always something I secretly liked. It calms my mind. But I would never admit that I guess.
I looked up from my laptop and turned my attention towards Ethan, "What is it, Ethan? Why aren't you happy about this wedding?"
"Dude, how can I be? This was all our damned mother's doing. Why won't she just leave me alone?" His fingers holding his head in frustration.
"Don't you dare disrespect her, Ethan. She's doing this all for your sake. How long are you gonna keep hooking up, huh? Everybody has to settle down someday."
"Well, I'm still young, Nate! I-I can't just...give up my bachelor life. I like it this way! I can't get married to some random rich bitch. I just can't!"
Did he just stutter?
"Why not? I, of all, know she's not the random girl you don't know. You guys used to be friends for fuck's sake." God. Just think about her with him makes my blood boil. How the fuck am I gonna watch them marry?
"That doesn't mean I gotta marry her! I don't even know her anymore! So technically, she is a random bitch!"
That's weird considering the fact he used to flaunt their friendship at me just to piss me off.
"Ethan, if something's bothering you, you can always talk to me. I know I'm not the best person to talk to, but...I'm your brother. And, fuck, don't make me say shit, just know that I'm here okay?"
"I know. But...you can't help me this time, bro." He sighed and walked away before giving me a small smile.
With that, he locked himself in his room.
Okay, that wasn't suspicious at all.
