His Prey
Synopsis
His Prey
Chapter1
The sound of rushing water came from the bathroom. Enduring the pain, Melanie sat up from the bed. She picked up the clothes on the ground and put them on one by one.
After putting on her clothes, Melanie picked up the pill on the table and put it into her mouth, swallowing it down.
When Reuben came out of the bathroom, he happened to see Melanie taking the pill. He didn't say anything, wiped his hair with a towel, and sat down on the bed casually.
"I'm getting engaged."
His cold voice suddenly sounded. Melanie paused, and a cold chill entered her heart. She froze.
Melanie turned her head, staring at Reuben with her black eyes. Reuben was wrapped in a bath towel, revealing his muscular chest. His facial features were perfect, but there was endless coldness.
"Oh." Melanie suppressed the pain in her heart and tried to look as natural as possible. "I won't come again."
Reuben paused and turned his head to look into her eyes. "Are you willing to do that?" he asked.
His tone was indifferent, as if he was asking casually.
Melanie was in a daze. It didn't matter if she was willing or not. What could she do about it?
For six years, apart from physical contact between them, no one knew about their relationship, much less the existence of Melanie.
Melanie still remembered that the first time she met Reuben was in a snowy winter.
At the age of eighteen, Melanie's parents died in a car accident and the driver ran away. Her brother, Baron Fischer, was sent to ICU and she urgently needed a large sum of surgery fees.
When she was desperate and in the depths of despair, Reuben appeared. He showed up in front of Melanie in a brown coat.
Someone was holding an umbrella for Reuben, and the snow did not fall on him. He looked down at Melanie from above. It was just one step between them, but it separated two different worlds.
Reuben leaned over slightly, his black-gloved hand holding her frozen hand. He looked at it carefully, and just like now, he said faintly, "Such a beautiful hand. What a pity."
Melanie suddenly looked up and met his deep and cold gaze. It was as cold as snow.
Reuben gave her a business card and a check, saying, "Come with me."
Just like that, Melanie followed Reuben and came whenever he wanted to and allowed him to do whatever he wanted. Now, it had been six years.
Reuben had always been generous to Melanie, paying the medical fee for her younger brother and helping her finish college. They took what they needed, and Reuben was kind enough to her.
She and Reuben had never been from the same world. Melanie had always known that the day was destined to come.
Looking away, Melanie lowered her head and said, "I will keep it a secret. I will pretend that I have never known you."
Reuben looked down slowly, from her fair neck to her slender fingers. Somehow, he thought of the first time he saw Melanie, who was pale and skinny.
After a few years being with him, Melanie was fair and tender, slim and graceful.
Suddenly, Reuben grabbed Melanie's wrist and pulled her into his arms. He lifted her chin with his two fingers and studied her face carefully.
Her face used to be round and a little chubby, but now it had grown into a standard oval face. Her delicate eyes were pure. Perhaps that was why her eyes were a little cold.
Melanie's fingers tightened. Her long eyelashes trembled slightly. Reuben rarely looked at her like this. It seemed that every time they had sex, it was a routine for him.
After staring at each other for a moment, Reuben kissed her.
When Melanie touched his slightly cold lips, she closed her eyes out of habit.
This kiss had a hint of parting.
