Project Janus
Synopsis
He created a door between worlds. Now these worlds want to destroy him.
Leningrad 2030: The USSR lives, but the future has stalled. Student Elias inadvertently opens a portal to another Leningrad—capitalist, neon, and brutal. It turns out his reality is just one of many, an artificial bulwark against the terrifying Empire of the Future.
Agents from two systems are hunting him. Two versions of the same girl are torn between duty and freedom. And Elias's device threatens to wipe both worlds into dust. To survive, he must not simply flee—he must decide which evil is the lesser, and whether there is even a place for humanity in the equation written by gods and tyrants.

Prologue
Leningrad city, 2030. (Parallel Reality)
The Soviet Union still stands, mighty and unshakable. The space race was won long ago, Mars is colonized, and dozens of scientific stations orbit the Earth. But the main center for interplanetary research is the Korolev University of Interplanetary Relations, where the country's best minds study.
Among them is Elias, a twenty-one-year-old third-year student at the Faculty of Quantum Engineering. Smart but lazy, he prefers drinking sessions with friends and night walks around Leningrad to laboratory work. His life consists of endless dorm parties, arguments about the cosmos over a bottle of port wine, and casual flings with fellow students.
But everything changes when, during one drunken night, he accidentally assembles a device that was not supposed to work.
