I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Boss, our discretionary budget for the Feast is already tight. Tony bought a commercial-grade, dual-boiler espresso machine last Tuesday under 'operational equipment.'"

"It improves morale!" Tony argued fiercely. "You can't run an empire on instant coffee, Julian! The men were sluggish! Now? They're running perimeter checks with precise enthusiasm!"

"Be that as it may," I said, scanning the balance sheet. "If we're going to launch a full counter-initiative against Sal's wholesale monopoly, we need to do it with surgical economic precision. No overspending. No undocumented petty cash."

Don Vittorio smiled, a sharp, paternal glint in his eye. "That is why you are my Underboss of Administration, Julian. Gather the squad. We ride to the Central Wholesale District at 10:00 AM."
