From the rooftop of the Vanguard Tower, Adrian Vale watched the storm swallow the horizon.

Adrian believed she was real.

Because someone had to be responsible for the perfect chaos the Syndicate created.

His phone vibrated in his coat pocket.

He hesitated.

Then opened the message.

"Come alone."

A location appeared beneath the words.

An abandoned observatory at the edge of the old district.

Adrian’s pulse slowed — the way it always did before danger.

It could be a trap.

It probably was.

But something inside him whispered that tonight would be different.

The observatory stood like a forgotten relic under the rain.

Broken glass windows reflected the storm. Rusted metal doors creaked as Adrian pushed them open.

Inside, darkness wrapped around the silent building.

His footsteps echoed across the stone floor.

Then a voice emerged from the shadows.

Soft.

Calm.

Dangerous.

"You came."

Adrian froze.

A figure stepped into the pale light of the cracked ceiling window.

Black coat.

Dark hair falling like ink across her shoulders.

Eyes that seemed to hold entire galaxies of secrets.

Lyra Noctis.

For years he had imagined this moment.

The capture.

The confrontation.

The victory.

But nothing had prepared him for the strange, electric silence between them.

They stood only a few meters apart.

Hunter.

And prey.

Lyra tilted her head slightly, studying him.

"So the famous Adrian Vale finally meets the monster he's been chasing."

Adrian kept his voice steady.

"You're under arrest."

A faint smile touched her lips.

"If you truly believed that… you would have brought backup."

The truth hit him instantly.

She was right.

He had come alone.

Not because the message demanded it.

But because he wanted answers.

Lyra stepped closer.

Rain dripped from her coat.

For a moment, the entire world seemed to shrink to the distance between them.

"You've been chasing shadows for years," she said softly.

"And now you finally found one."

Adrian felt something shift deep inside his chest.

A feeling he didn't recognize.

Something dangerous.

Something human.

Because for the first time…

He didn't see a criminal.

He saw a woman.

And in her eyes, he saw something he never expected.

Loneliness.

Lightning split the sky outside.

And in that brief flash of light, Adrian realized something terrifying.
