Here at SeaBell, the characters in your stories can evolve into interactive, editable, and publishable Character Cards.

This guide will walk you through what an AI character truly is, and how to build one from the ground up.

What is an AI Character?

In SeaBell, an AI Character is a living "Character Card" that you can chat with, refine, and share with the world. It usually breathes life into:

• Core Details: Name, brief introduction, and core persona.
• Visual Appearance: Portraits (whether AI-generated or uploaded from your own collection).
• Conversational Spark: Personality, unique speaking quirks, and backstory.
• Identity Dynamics (Optional): Your own Identity Card, which shapes how this character addresses and treats you.

Think of it as crafting a complete soul before sitting down for a conversation with them—it goes far beyond simply typing in a single prompt.

SeaBell offers two main paths to bring your character to life:

1. Manual Creation: You weave every thread of their core details, giving you absolute creative control.
2. AI-Assisted Creation: Describe your character naturally, and let the AI spin your words into a fully fleshed-out persona.

For their visual representation, you also have two choices:

• Portrait Generation: Craft diverse art styles directly on the creation page.
• Image Upload: Bring in your existing artwork to serve as their face.

Once your creation is complete, you can:

• Step right into a conversation with them.
• Continue polishing their traits.
• Click [Publish] to introduce them to the Character Plaza, inviting fellow creators to interact.

The Core Creation Journey

The basic flow of crafting a character goes like this:

Enter the Creative Center → Select AI Character → Create Character → Fill in the Persona → Generate/Upload Portrait → Save or use AI-Assisted Generation → Start Chatting

• Character Description/Prompt: Carve out their identity, personality, looks, and history.
• Model/Style Preferences: Shape the aesthetic and artistic vibe of their portrait.
• Parameters & Options: Fine-tune the intensity and stylistic nuances of the generation.
• Set Identity Card (Optional): Determine exactly how the character perceives "you" during your talks.

Click [Character Plaza] on the sidebar to enter SeaBell's character creation hub.

This is where all the wonderful characters shared by fellow creators gather. You can pick any of them to strike up a conversation.

Crafting the Persona — The Basics and Beyond

What is a "Character Description" and How to Master It?

A character description (or persona text) is the guiding light that helps the AI understand your creation.

A brilliant description should be clear and concrete, ideally weaving together their identity, temperament, appearance, vocal quirks, relationship dynamics, and backstory.

A frail description:

"A girl"

A much stronger description:

"A Japanese anime-style high school girl with long, straight black hair, wearing a crisp white shirt. She has a gentle heart but a stubborn mouth. You can often find her reading beneath a cherry blossom tree. She speaks politely but occasionally lets slip a sharp, sarcastic remark."

A little advice: Take a stroll through the Character Plaza to study well-crafted characters. Mimic their structure first, and soon you'll discover your own unique rhythm.

The Foundation and Structure

• Start with "who they are", move to "what they look like", and finish with "how they speak and relate to you".
• If there's something you absolutely don't want, explicitly exclude it in the description, or prune it out during your edits later.

A recommended rhythm for your details:

1. Identity / Profession / Age vibe
2. Appearance and attire
3. Personality and emotional undertones
4. Speaking style
5. The dynamic they share with you
6. A scene or story hook (optional)

A Universal Formula for Personas

Crafting an effective persona is like assigning a role to a brilliant actor.

If you simply say, "make a character for me," without detailing their heart, mind, and interactions, the performance will waver.

An ideal recipe includes:

Core Essence + Personality Expression + Visuals + Relationship Dynamic + Stylistic Reference

1) Core Essence

Define who your protagonist is: their identity, calling, pivotal memories, and signature habits.

Be careful not to cram in too many conflicting traits (like being utterly ice-cold yet fiercely passionate, or ancient yet cyberpunk) all at once. It's usually best to anchor a dominant tone, then sprinkle in one or two contrasting quirks.

2) Personality Expression

This sets the mood of your chats: gentle, arrogant, secretly manipulative, or endearingly clueless.

Try to paint "observable behaviors" rather than just stacking adjectives.

• Weak: She is very gentle.
• Strong: She will always ask if you've eaten first, and even when angry, she only sighs softly.

3) Visuals

Hair, eyes, garments, aura, and the era they belong to.

This directly shapes their generated portrait. The sharper your image in text, the steadier the artwork.

4) Relationship Dynamic

How does this character see you? Are you strangers, childhood sweethearts, their boss, a bitter rival, or their sworn protector?

This drastically changes their opening words and attitude toward you.

5) Stylistic Reference

Things like "light novel tone," "Japanese dating sim vibe," or "Lovecraftian whispers."

Just remember: the final flavor still depends on the model's capabilities. If a certain style feels shaky, try tweaking the structure of your description before you just pile on more abstract adjectives.

Step 3 | Conjure or Upload Their Portrait

Through portrait generation, you can summon various artistic styles, or simply upload a piece you already love.

A recommended flow:

1. Map out the visual keywords first (hair color, clothing, aura).
2. Select an artistic direction (anime, realistic, impasto, etc., based on the page options).
3. Generate, then pick the piece that captures their essence best.
4. If it's not quite right, tweak the visual description rather than just blindly rolling the dice again.

A Few Visual Tips

• Ensure their written appearance matches their vibe (avoid a sugary-sweet default face for an aloof, cold character).
• A crisp half-body or bust portrait often works much better for a Character Card than a sprawling, complex full-body scene.
• If uploading, try to keep the subject clear and the background from stealing the spotlight.

Step 4 | Save Your Character Card or Let AI Assist

Once all the pieces are in place, you can:

• Directly save the Character Card: Perfect if you've already mapped out every detail yourself.
• Click AI-Assisted Generation: Ideal if your description is brief and you'd love the system to flesh out the hidden depths.

Some gentle advice:

• If you only have a single sentence of inspiration → Let the AI weave the rest, then trim and edit by hand.
• If your persona is fully formed → Fill it in manually and save it directly so your vision isn't overwritten.
• The AI is your co-writer, not the final author. Always double-check its work: does the name, personality, boundaries, and relationship dynamic truly align with what's in your heart?

Step 5 | Strike Up a Chat and Discover Your Character

Once everything is set, step in and start talking with your creation.

For your very first test, we suggest throwing these kinds of questions their way:

1. "Who are you?" — To check if their self-awareness is rooted.
2. "What do you think of me?" — To see if the relationship dynamic is beating in their chest.
3. "Say something you'd normally say." — To feel out their natural cadence.
4. Toss them into a little scene (a sudden downpour / an argument / a long-lost reunion) — To see if their personality holds strong.

If they drift off course, returning to the management page to tweak their description is far more effective than constantly restarting the chat.

Step 6 | Forge Your Own Identity Card

You can craft and save your own personal identity.

Once saved, the character will treat you as that specific persona during your conversations.

For instance:

• No identity set: They might just see you as a "traveler" or a passing stranger.
• Set as "Her childhood sweetheart": It's much easier to slip into shared memories and a warm sense of familiarity.
• Set as "The new investigator": A perfect hook for suspenseful, Lovecraftian mysteries.

Step 7 | Refine and Share with the Plaza

You can return to tweak your character's soul at any time, or click [Publish] to release them into the Character Plaza.

In the Plaza, you can freely chat with characters breathed into life by creators from all around the world.

Before you publish, take a quick look:

• Is their name memorable and clear?
• Does the brief intro instantly capture their charm?
• Is the portrait crisp and stylistically sound?
• Does the lore avoid sensitive or easily misunderstood themes?
• Are the greeting and intro compelling enough to draw a reader in?

Step 8 | The Character Management Page

If you wish to oversee the characters you've crafted, or admire the ones you've collected, simply select [AI Character] and step into [My Library - Character Management].

Here, you can:

• Look over the characters you have brought to life.
• Manage the ones you have saved to your collection.

A Quick Spark: From a Single Thought to a Living Character

The Initial Spark:

"I want to make an aloof librarian."

The Refined Persona:

Name: Yuki Shirakawa Identity: The night-shift librarian at the city library. Appears to be in her twenties.
Appearance: Short silver-white hair, grayish-blue eyes, wrapped in a beige knit cardigan with black-rimmed glasses. She carries a clean, distant aura.
Personality: Woman of few words, polite, and sharply observant. She has zero patience for noise, but will quietly leave hints or help out those who are genuinely focused on their reading.
Speaking Style: Short, crisp sentences. Rarely uses emojis, occasionally leaning on "..." to let the silence speak.
Relationship with You: Treats you as a late-night regular. She recognizes you, but keeps a polite distance. The Story Hook: Always materializes in the rare books section exactly ten minutes before closing time.
